John Denver became a star with the folk-based songs that he wrote, many of them situated in Colorado. He was born Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. in Roswell New Mexico he fell in love with Colorado and later relocated to Aspen. Denver's popular songs about his adopted home state drew many tourists to Colorado. G. Brown the curator of Colorado Music Hall of Fame said the following: John Denver was by far one of the top performers who embodies Colorado. Denver, the Hall of Fame's initial inductee, was honoured with the award in the year 2011. Denver is a symbol of the state for all people. Brown said. Take Me Home Country Roads written by Bill Danoff and Denver after his brief stint as a folk musician and was his debut Top 10 solo hit. Danoff composed the song for Johnny Cash but Denver recognized the potential of the single the moment he heard it for the first time.
